Betsy Ross

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 15, 2004

Let me tell you of the legend of Betsy Ross
We will all see the beautiful stars, and bars
For to miss this beauty would be an awful loss
Was her destiny to be written by the stars?

Each star would represent a united state
United we stand and divided we fall
She would sew the symbols with a love so great
The beauty of unity is seen by all

And to think it all would start with a dream
We needed a symbol to let freedom ring
As we needed a woman to sew the seam
And the flag would become more than just a thing

Think of Betsy sewing the red white, and blue
Think of our allegiance to that great flag
Compare it to a love that is pure and true
Forever in glorious love may it wag.

Excellent poem, it is hard to do the quadra.... (you know what I mean) style. Thanks for sharing, and keep up the good work.
