Spoken By Death

by DMG   Nov 15, 2004

Feelings so sore as the parents mourn
Premature baby faces death when born.
Was tangled in the umbilical cord
Cross your chest three times, pray to the lord.

This could be you, your child, your friend
The beginning, and also the end
The difference between life and death
The moment of the first and only breath

Then while you’re praying, the mother dies
The father watches life leave her eyes
Saddened to see that nothing can be
No more does the father have a family

The father’s blank eyes bleed through the years
His life dies with so many tears
Heartless is he, a blackened hole
Quit on himself, deserted his soul

On his deathbed, he speaks a final word
Though at the end his sentence is slurred
What he spoke was said like this
“You haven’t lived until you have miss....”

I think what he was trying to say
This sonless father on his dying day
That life has emotion, both good and bad
Happiness is nothing without being sad

That was beautiful, my brother was born premature with his cord wrapped around his neck, he lived tho, which i am so thankful for, but i had a cuzin who died with his cord wraped around his neck, it was so sad, and now much uncle (the babys dad) has been depressed every sice, but nonetheless that was a beatiful poem
