Bee of the Lake

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 16, 2004

In the year of "Our Lord" nineteen hundred and fifty four
The Lord sent a bee with an awesome chore
Sent into this world with a ruptured heart
Which physicians repaired, so she could start,

Her task, with the help of the Lord, the bee of the lake
Was to search for justice, for heaven's sake
To think of how hard she would work, and what it would take
To fight for sweet justice, makes my heart ache

I cried oh sweet bee please give up your fight
You know a blind world can't see your light
It will take the Almighty to restore their sight
For to see a lake of justice, shining bright

In the darkness of the night
The unjust put out the light

Her heart, was arrested by an unknown force,
Put in a wooden jail to hinder its course
But the justice of God restored her heart, as He did in her youth
It is unjust to arrest a heart for telling the truth

The truth that the justice of God is not blind,
Is a truth that a wooden jail cannot bind.
This jail only exist in the mind
The bee flew free, and left it behind

Oh Lord, what joy to leave such strife
But what a sorrow to end such a life
Of a loving sister, a mother and a wife
Cut into the loved ones like the blade of a knife

The love in our hearts just couldn't let go
Of the sweetness of a smile we had come to know
The hope in our minds began to grow
That Godâ??s divine mercy would show

We believed there would be a rebirth
In heaven or on this earth
As we prayed for all we were worth
I will never forget the joy and mirth
In the year of "Our Lord " two thousand and three
When my sweet sister was returned to me

As a nurse I greatly appreciate this beautiful poem. So many times the Dr.s say there is no hope, only to have a miracle reverse what they said couldn't be done with medicine. I am so happy for you that such a miracle happened for your sister. Beautiful imagery, impeccable flow, rhyme, metaphors....can't say more! Awesome in every way!
