Poetry: The Voice of Truth

Poetry: The Voice of Truth

A poet speaks words from the heart,
Words of truth are the place to start;
Some words profound and some just delightful,
Time will be the judge of how insightful.

Poems which pass the test of time
Are not always so sublime;
They all have truth at the core,
Something time can not ignore.

I will make no attempt
Or incur popular contempt
By putting boundaries on truth
As a word-smithing youth.

Yet when truth is the rod
That gives good poems the nod,
The readers will be blessed
Since we are reading the best.
