The day she saw him
She couldn’t stop shaking.
He saw her in the doorway and knew,
He loved her.
They had known each other for sometime…
The friendship grew,
But that day, it evolved.
The next day they saw each other again.
She couldn’t control her shakes,
He couldn’t control his thoughts.
They both knew they wouldn’t be together,
Not yet anyway.
She knew he was leaving,
He hated hurting her.
Their time was insatiable.
She said it first,
The words that would change her life,
‘I love you’
She changed at that moment,
She grew.
Before he left he kissed her forehead,
Secretly wishing he had met her first.
They couldn’t change that he was leaving.
While he was gone,
She found ways of controlling her pain,
Ways she had learned from him.
He missed her…
She missed him…
What is she doing now?
I wonder if he’s doing okay…
They each ran to another’s arms,
Keeping it a secret.
Only hers got out…
She hated hurting him,
But it was over…
They lost contact,
Until the day he came home.
He knew what he had to do,
To keep his reputation,
His heart,
His pride.
He broke her heart in a matter of seconds.
He still loved her,
But she wasn’t…
What he thought.
She cried each night…
Her body was covered in cuts.
How could she let him get to her so much?
She tried to salvage what was left…
He knew that he couldn’t turn her down.
So they were together a few times,
Each times the same…
Her pretending,
Him pretending.
Though they still cared about each other,
It was different.
They still loved each other,
But they each found someone new.
And in each new relationship,
It failed.
For the other knew, they were second best.
He couldn’t help the way he felt no more then her.
She was always jealous, and he thought she was petty.
They both avoided relationships after that,
Not telling the other why,
But secretly knowing.
Their friendship grew stronger,
And they fell in love all over again.
He knew she looked up to him,
And she knew that no one could compare to him.
‘I love you’ was spoken a lot.
She began to break rules for him.
Knowing she would get in trouble,
She didn’t care,
She got to see him,
That’s all that mattered.
He knew she wasn’t allowed to be around him,
The consequences would be harsh,
But he saw her,
She made him feel different,
It was worth it.
One night she saw him,
She was so overwhelmed.
He knew she was nervous.
Their relationship grew another level.
No one had known her better then he.
He knew she would always be there for him.
It was perfect…
Pure perfection in both eyes.
That’s crashed down in a matter of seconds.
Her best friend…
He felt stupid for saying it…
She was hurt…
He knew it.
He walked her home,
She was dead…
The car was gone.
She began to cry,
He held her for a moment,
Secretly each knew that it was going to change.
He didn’t want to loose her,
Not now.
She knew she couldn’t live with out him,
He meant too much to her.
She cried while on the phone the next day.
She left,
200 miles away.
She wanted to die.
She called him one night,
Just to see how he was.
She broke into tears just hearing his voice.
He was broken,
Because she left, because he life was messed up.
She thought of suicide…
Failed an attempt.
What a flaw-can’t even kill herself the right way…
Everything is different now.
She cries every day.
He doesn’t care anymore.
Can she blame him?
No guy wants to wait around.
He knows she’s hurt.
The girl he loved.
She changed his life.
She has died.
She doesn’t feel anything anymore.
