Loneliness (December 1989)

by FTS Miles   Nov 18, 2004

In darkening corridors of a once light mind
The demons of loneliness wreak painful havoc.
Chaotic maelstroms of sad passions
Rage upon the sane supports of reason.
As random smoke from the darting flame
My heart floats ever aimlessly,
Reluctantly paining myself in a pointless
Quest for perfect love.

At times one must wound oneself
To allow future feeling:
A lonely walk under the distant stars and moon;
A quiet solitary sit before the cold fire;
The roar of waves pounding upon a shore
Empty but for myself;
The small white boat rowed unaccompanied
Through placid lifeless waters.
Shall ever there be someone to share
And cherish these experiences?

While She yet alludes me,
I must dream the unfulfilled nightmare of reality.
