The Persuasive Blade

by Broken   Nov 18, 2004

My mind twisting in each direction
So many thoughts, so little thrills
Crying, bleeding, trying to force the pain away
The absence of light gave me small pleasure
But now, just hands me new reason to wish for rain
My black tears leave their mark along my face
Running down, symbolically running from me
I don’t blame them, I would do the same
If there only was a way I could leave my own skin
Only god knows how I despise this world
I would give anything to leave it behind
I hate it, more than I hate myself
If only I had the balls, to let you find me
Let you find me as I had slain myself
Lying so helplessly on the floor
Next to the black roses I’d raised for this day
You remember how the ever so persuasive blade
Tried to make you to do the same?
Never would you let it come near your fragile life
Being the open-minded person I am
Thought it would help me relieve this nightmare
Put an end to my absorbing torment
I’m sure you can picture how it went

So many poems on this sight are all about wallowing in self-hatred over self harm. This one did a bit of that, but the final few lines from, "You remember how" stopped me from dismissing it completely... besides, I'd be lying if i said I'd never written any morbid cutter poems. Liked the cynicism the last line held. Good stuff.
