Our Lament

by Amanda   Nov 19, 2004

Sitting alone in the darkness of the night
Thinking of how nothing seems right
How in an instance all is shattered
Our hopes, our lives, completely battered
Broken promises and unsaid dreams
No one understands the pain we endure
Making everything right, yet all left unsure
All things new and old
Left in darkness, left so cold
Leaving us frigid and bitter
Alone in the world trying to make things better
Our frivolous attempts go unnoticed
Leaving us to believe we are no better than lotus
Pestering, pleading, picking
Crying, whining, itching
We’re no good is what we’re told
We’ll be heard once we’re old
What if we have something to say now?
Do we throw a fit? Or have a cow?
No, we shut up and keep our feelings pent up inside
Until we burst and die inside
Left alone in these desolate places
No smiles- no more happy faces
