Lingering Thoughts

by Ryan Linton   Nov 19, 2004

So now you're gone, it doesn't seem that hard,
it's what you left behind that caught me off gaurd.
All along I said I wouldn't get to deep,
I thought I hadn't, but now I can't sleep.
Then at the moment that you slip out of my mind,
everywhere i turn, you are all i can find.

I see you sitting next to me with that incredible smile,
I don't realize the room is empty for a while.
When you were here, this room was anything but dark,
now without you this place, all the walls are so stark.
As I lay here waiting for sleep,
There's a momentwhere no memories of you creep.

Now I'm hearing that song, I'm sure YOU know which one,
I try not to listen, but my thoughts start to run;
like paint on wet canvas, with not enough room
Then in my mind other thoughts of you loom.
Like your beauty, your laughter, the way that you stare,
The taste of your lips and the smell of your hair.

So it seems that everything reminds me of you,
it continues like this til I find someone new.
Then I love them and kiss them, make them feel needed,
anything at all to make me forget all the times my heart has bleeded.
