Aimless Soul

by Driver   Nov 19, 2004

Street lamps flicker in a ghost town I used to call home. A picture surfs the wind, showing the life I now hide. Memories long forgotten are too soon awoken. Feelings put to rest now arise with the sun as a new day is born. Crumbled to pieces are the thoughts that raced my mind now awaiting their return. A river of tears that once ran strong slowly dried into the rotten life I live and now trickles on. A grave is all that is left of the heart once strong. Darkness is all around with a faint pulse of life at the end of the tunnel. A voice whispers in my ear. You’re call is heard, but there’s not a move made. Memories arise and I start to think about how the days were so pure. But sorrow is all that is left of the dismal life that is ahead of a wondering soul. You grabbed me by the hand, but I’m knee deep in emptiness and cannot escape. Desperate attempts fail, and I can hear the waterfall of tears. A hole opens in the night sky that surrounds me, and the red filters through. The anger runs deep in these roots sunk low. Memories of the backs turned quickly from the cries of help soon bubble to the surface. The emptiness rises to my neck, and fear reaches a grave-like heart as it pumps life back into the empty shell. Help this poor soul back to his feet. He wants the life that he needs. No longer can he sit idly and watch the world pass him by. Take these broken wings and heal them. So that he may fly away from this rusted rotten life and be reborn. The hands of time caught his fall, but he needs your guidance back into the world he left behind. Reach your hand of life into the dark abyss and touch the fading soul of sorrow. This is the last chance. Too long has he waited for a second chance to arise. Just breathe into me and take away all the hatred.
