The Last Time We Spoke

We can see it in each others eyes when I look at you
And you look at me,
That what we shared was truly meant to be.
Why were not together for this I will never know,
But even though you hurt me
My heart aches for you so.

Everyday I watch the sun rise and the sun set
Wishing during this time we can fix the mistakes
We have already made,
And during this time I try to do that but when you don’t want to
Every time you say that my love for you starts to fade.

For our 2 year anniversary that was almost on its way,
I had plans set on a romantic dinner for two, 2 dozen red roses,
And a ring that would lead to our wedding day.
But before I could do it you told me that your ex was coming to take you back,
And he said that it was over for me and you and he told you that he still loved you,
And he was going to get your relationship between you and him back on track.

I called you on one of my breaks at work and begged you “don’t do this to me”,
And you told me that it was obvious and what broke my heart was when you said
“Can’t you see his feelings for me?”
So I let you have him and I hope you’re happy that I am out of your life,
Oh and don’t worry about me it’s not worth killing myself over you,
And I am not going to grab the knife.

I can’t believe you called me saying it didn’t work out
And you wanted to back with me,
I said now it is time to break your heart,
I have gotten over your games and we’re done,
I’m sorry this must be.
