Joan's story

by ~*^*~ longing to belong ~*^*~   Nov 20, 2004

When Joan came home,
From little Marie’s Party,
She stated so proudly,

“A little girl tripped over,
And every one pointed at her,
But I didn’t point at all and I didn’t join the laughter.”

“Why dear child prey tell,
Who ‘twas that fell off their chair,
And why ‘twas you didn’t stare?”

Asked her mother in surprise,
See Joan normally was the life and soul,
Of parties and life as a whole,

“Well dearest mummy,
To you the story I will tell,
The reason I didn’t laugh- 'twas me who fell!”

Actually, kind of amusing and cute. Though in an odd way, says a lot about human response to other people's predicaments.
