Feel myself fading

by Mild insomnia   Nov 20, 2004

Feel myself fading,
As you screech at me,
Telling me to leave,
But still I am waiting,
For you to calm down,
You know you’re gonna come around.

I’ll save you the bother,
Of walking to my home,
Unless you would prefer…
But you’ll walk back alone.

And there’s no more to say,
The moment’s gone,
And I shouldn’t stay,
But leaving feels wrong.
Just a silence of sorrow,
No nothing more,
And tomorrow,
You’ll find me on the floor.

It’s like an addiction,
And there’s no helpline,
No one can stop me in time,
There’s no prescription,
I’m a chronic punch bag,
And there’s nothing wrong with that.

Tell me your worries,
So I can drown in my own,
Keep turning to me,
Cos nobody’s home.

And there’s no more to say,
The moment’s gone,
And I shouldn’t stay,
But leaving feels wrong.
Just a silence of sorrow,
No nothing more,
And tomorrow,
You’ll find me on the floor.
