Grandpa

by Stephanie Lynn   Nov 21, 2004

I remember watching you fish,
though you never caught one,
once, a bungee cord it was,
I just enjoyed being with you.

Although the sun shines down on earth,
it does not enter my heart.
When I am blue,
I think of you,
and the rays find their way in.

you could not see me then,
and I cannot see you now,
but I know you are watching,
guiding me down the roads of life.

You see Grandpa,
I've learned that
each person is like a card.
with every card together
It builds a house.
when the cards fall,
you have to pick them up
and start anew.
Even though I try to rebuild my heart,
one piece will always be missing.
You.
