Heart for sale

by Mild insomnia   Nov 21, 2004

I lay broken and abandoned,
Tears on my face,
They fall to the floor at random,
My heart’s out of pace,
I forget how I got here,
But I know I’m safe,
The stone around me seems sincere.

I feel the broken pieces,
If I press on my chest,
They crack with the releases,
Of my hollow breath,
And I see no silver lining,
Only my death,
But my soul’s shining.

One heart for sale,
Broken by betrayal,
Buy one half,
Get one free,
Dust off the debris.
From the walls surrounding,
They crumbled round it,
Buy one half,
Get one free,
Dust off the debris.

Pay no postage or packaging,
The delivery’s on me,
Big brown box tied with string,
And inside I’m quite content,
At least I’ve finally found a home,
Don’t put me through more torment,
And never let me go.
