Long and Winding Road

by DMG   Nov 21, 2004

Black clouds fill the darkened skies
Rain drops fall from my eyes
Thunder erupts, a flash of light
My heart breaks and blinds love’s sight
The rain pours down so very hard
Emotional beating leaves me scarred
The clouds cluster up above
And my heart dies thereof

I walk through the feelings of loss
Why did our paths have to cross?
The road I walk, long and winding
Every turn is reminding
Of just what I am in
Love to me has become sin
Where is this road’s final twist
Beyond the lips of whom I’ve kissed

The rain shattering like glass
Like my life, watch it pass
As I run, where to go
Down this road, fast yet slow
Keep moving till the end
What is around every bend?
Left holds tears, right does too
Every way I’ll feel blue

Everything was going great
The road I walked was so straight
But then I approached my first turn
My first hurt and concern
It all turned for the worst
Now my heart is at thirst
Such sweet love, a la mode
Was lost on this winding road
