Change

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 22, 2004

Why do I think I can change others when I can’t change me?
And if I could change myself, who would I want to be?
Hopefully someone, like the One from Galilee
Yes, the One Who came to change our destiny

But if I become like the world which He came to change
I know it is time for me to accept the grace to rearrange
The things in my life that would surely estrange
Me from attaining the salvation within my range

Salvation which comes from the living word
Which can set all of us as free as a bird,
These words, must be spoken, to be heard
But, often their meaning becomes blurred

Changes occur when these words are understood
By those of us searching for the things that are good
If we follow the will of God, and do what we should
We could bring the peace of Christ into our livelihood

It seems most of us follow our own wills instead
And ignore the greatest words that were ever said
When the Son said, not my will but Thine be done
The word was made flesh and the word was the Son

Changes made by the Holy Trinity
From the mercy of it’s Divinity
Can give our souls great serenity

Wow, great job, and I agree that change is extremely difficult--no matter who is changing. God is the only one who is capable of changing someone's heart (at least for the better).

    God Bless
