We All Glow

by Astoria   Nov 24, 2004

I kicked the last living coal.
The only living thing in sight.
A once promise land,
promised only to the free,
is no defeated.
A once happy home
is now just another vacant battlefield.
Smoke rises from the ground.
Cleansing the earth of its natural elements.
I made a man in the ash.
With two dead coals for eyes.
I destroyed him...he looked like you.

I can feel the spirits of the dead encircle me.
They wont leave without what they came for.
How could you?
I knelt before you on my burned knees.
I gave you my biggest sacrifice; Pride.
Instead you came forth and set ablaze everything i had.
I forgive you, Again. And Again.
They're here...i can feel them.
As a crow lands on the highest branch of the willow I understand.
I never meant anything to you.
They shall have they're flesh.
They have come uninvited, yet,
they will leave satisfied.
leave my heart...you will watch it glow.

I will be your last living coal.
Destroyed. I am Destroyed.
