Matters of Opinion

by Michael D Nalley   Nov 26, 2004

Some talk as if opinions do not matter
As if opinions were just useless chatter
Ones own opinion makes the ego fatter
Your opinion of me might not flatter

Sometimes I think it’s foolish, but cute
For someone to toot ones own proud flute
As others stand by humble and mute
With no judgment that is absolute

An absolute judgments not hard to find
Judgments are made by the powerful, but blind
Sometimes our own opinions are not very kind
Opinions are not from the heart, but from the mind

Lord, there are opinions of what we should do
What would be the best way that we could serve You
Mysterious to many, clear to a very few.
Who think they have the whole truth in their narrow view.

Do our opinions help us, or do they just get in the way?
Should we just try to do as You do, and try to do what You say?
O Lord, will we all know the absolute truth some day?
The mystery of the Trinity to Whom we pray?

Though I have never been inside a university
I have come to believe in unity in diversity
The unity that will return the earth to Heaven’s dominion
But we all seem to need the division of a second opinion

Amazing, and so true, I have questioned myself over the same things. Espically when around family.

God Bless, and hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving.
