Chloe, from what you said, it's clear that you didn't even read what I said. The Death Penalty SAVES LIVES.

Executing the murderer does indeed solve a problem, as for each murderer executed, 17 to 18 innocent lives are saved from deterred murderers. This is based on a study done by Stephen Layson of the University of North Carolina.

It's alleged that only 23 innocents out of 700 murderers have been executed since 1970 when the Death penalty was reinstituted. Let's crunch some numbers.
This means that the ratio of innocents killed to innocents saved is 23:12,600(18x700) and this doesn't even account for the 13,000 people killed by escaped, released, or paroled murderers.
Other studies done by Texas A&M University show that the abolishment of the death penalty has coincided with a drastic rise in crime rates. Even if a few innocents are killed via DP, it seems that by abolishing it would kill many, many more.
Now respond to why you think that the lives of a few are more valuable than the lives of many many more.

a great poem that clearly addresses the issue of death penaltys. great work

  • oh thats so sad and gd, so well written. It msut be awful if that happened, it must be awful if the guy had done it too but if you knew he was innocent it would be so heartbreaking to see him that last time.

This was a tear jerker, for sure. I have never read a poem that was worded as beautiful. But this happens more than we realize. A lot of innocent people die and go to their grave for something that they did not do. I agree with you, let these that have commented these crimes stay the rest of the lives in prison, let 'em have all the time in the world to realize the wrong they have done. I don't beleive in the death penalty and never will. Two wrongs don't make a right. Once again, a Masterpiece of all times. You are a very gifted poet. Take Care, lol
