A sketchy state

by Shaina Ahenger   Nov 27, 2004

As I stand here as a young woman,
I remember every lesson I have learned.
So many catastrophes happened to this little girl,
Too many tears or heartaches to count,
It feels like I'm 15 going on 30,
And I've been through hardships unimaginable.
To get back up from violent hits,
Makes my heart glow with pride.
Lessons I learned early that I didn't understand,
Has taken my life to somewhat a success.
I wish I could have been one cheerful kid,
Without any worries in the world.
God intended to make my heart stronger,
But instead, I'm turning my heart to stone.
Being taken for granted a number of times,
Is finally taking a toll after these years.
An age is only a number used to label,
And I've lived enough bad times for an eternity.
To see the silver lining of bad situations,
Is often difficult for my decisions now.
My heart is screaming, "You don't need love."
But without love happiness becomes non-existent.
