Send him back

by Mild insomnia   Nov 28, 2004

The rain falls down,
I’m walking down a dead end street,
Down in France,
I pray we meet.

A church stands tall,
Surrounded by a five foot tall wall,
I’m atheist,
But it calls.

I step inside,
Step on the floor of all that’s Holy,
And on my knees,
I pray for thee.

Dear god,
Are you there or not?
I don’t ask a lot,
But send him back.

Dear god,
I will not leave this spot,
I don’t ask a lot,
But send him back.

My echo’s ring,
Ring round an empty church and nothing,
I’ll stay right here,
I can’t leave him.

Stare to space,
Stare through the stained glass windows above,
Still no reply,
And I won’t give up,
On love.

Dear god,
Are you there or not?
I don’t ask a lot,
But send him back.

Dear god,
I will not leave this spot,
I don’t ask a lot,
But send him back.
