Say What You Mean

by Jaime   Nov 30, 2004

He didn't want to fight with her anymore,
So he turned away, and stormed out the door.
She screamed after him as he walked across the lawn,
That she hated him and was glad he was gone.
He got in his car, and drove away,
That was the last time she saw him that day.
She felt bad later, she was up all night,
She vowed in the morning, she would call him to make things right.
For some reason she couldn't reach him, no matter how hard she tried,
She only wanted to tell him, she didn't hate him, she had lied.
Later when the phone rang, she picked it up eagerly,
But unfortunately it was not the man that she thought it would be.
A policeman had called her and said, "I'm sorry to have to say,
Your boyfriend was in a serious accident when he left your house yesterday."
She was suddenly worried, "Is he okay?", she cried.
The policeman was very quiet, then he told her he had died.
Heartbroken, distressed, why couldn't she have seen?
She would feel so much better knowing she'd said what she really means.
