Nightsong

by Izzo   Dec 1, 2004

From my room, lunar singing
Beckons me to join the song
My soul is all that I am bringing
I won’t be gone for very long
And in the night I do belong
The melody calls out to my heart
I’m eager to take up my part

The myriad of celestial voices
Sends peace to flow within my veins
Every atom of my being rejoices
I can’t recall my former pains
I’ve been released from mortal chains
I wish I could always stay this way
And avoid the burden of the day

But then the darkness begins to fade
Dawn is ready to take her place
The sunrise stops Nighttime’s serenade
The last notes echo through distant space
Now I have the weary world to face
Yet once again the moon will rise
And I’ll lift lilting carols to the skies
