Straight Jackets

by Kaitlin Kristina   Dec 1, 2004

Broken statues,
Stone cold heart,
She wakes from her sleep,
Startled, in dark.

Blood pumps,
Through her soul,
Seeps out cuts,
Wounds that scold.

Her breath is...
What keeps her sane,
She wont let go,
They’ll take her again.

She hears the voices
That play in her brain.
We cant here them,
We’re not insane.

Her eyes dash from side to side,
She knows it’s coming,
Nowhere to hide.

She won’t open her mouth,
She wouldn’t dare,
They will strap her up,
Hurt her again, they don’t care.

They load her up,
Drugs and such,
She’s so out of it,
She is so out of touch.

She knows the truth,
We just don’t know,
What she hears is a fact,
But to us, they won’t show.

Depression is what holds her hostage,
Broken home,
In emotional bondage,

No one needs to seal the chains,
She does it herself,
Locks away her remains.

Fears,
Tears,
Blocked,
Inside her for so many years.
We can't help her,
We don't know how,
She's lost and alone,
Without one solemn vow.

This poem is one that you will have to think and and interpret. It is open ended and ambigious on purpose. Comments and ratings would really help me out! Thanks everyone.

With love, K Kristina
