Sept. 11: Goodbye

by Katera   Dec 1, 2004

I went to work,
Early that day
“Goodbye my children,”
I did not say

I approached the elevator,
Up I went
I approached my desk,
Off I went

I looked out the window,
And loudly screamed
I dashed for the stairs,
How scary it all seemed

The bam and slam,
Made my legs pump harder
Now the noise was unbearable,
It just kept getting louder and louder

I knew what would happen,
The building would collapse
Just the thought of it,
Made me run fast

From the 10th floor,
To the 1st
I was sure I was going to make it,
I felt just about to burst

I heard a rumble,
And a *split*!!!!
I felt I could make it,
“I just have to get…”

I was close to the door,
And something hit my head
I knew what had happened,
I was dead
