Beautiful Girl...

by Kaitlin Kristina   Dec 2, 2004

Beautiful girl
Sitting still,
Sitting in a crowd
With her legs gently and firmly crossed
Thinking she is the beautiful girl
Who everyone is looking at
Who everyone wants to be.
And she is right,
But she will not always be the most beautiful girl,
Some day she will just be another girl,
Sitting still and in a crowd
With her legs crossed
Thinking that she is the woman
With little to offer,
And the boys wont be around
And the other girls will not be spearing their dirty looks
Through her beautiful eyes.
She will be wishing she had spent less time thinking about
How beautiful she was, and she was,
But she will wish that she had thought about talking more
About laughing more
And about letting the wind lace her hair with the rain,
Enjoying the feeling,
Instead of wishing that the night was still
So that her straight locks would not wind into a curl
Or a wave,
And she wouldn’t look perfect anymore,

But she knows now that time is the thing that now laces her hair,
And wraps around the small wrinkles in her face
And she knows that staying inside will not keep it from effecting her beauty.
She is still beautiful,
But no longer envied.
And no longer does the rain affect her beauty,
For it is on the inside, and it is the voice that still whispers “I am beautiful.”
