Why Am I Scared?

Here I go again
Passing by and no words will come of me
You smile and just say “Hi!”
I smile and walk away
Beating myself up inside
All the while asking myself “Why?”
Why are you afraid Mike?
Why do you feel you have to hide?
She is but a simple girl
With feelings and emotions too
But she is not just a simple girl
My heart will tell you it’s true
She is the love of my life
My angel in waiting
Descendent of the heavens
My pounding heart beating
She is the reason I’m alive
My soul mate in disguise
She is comfort in denial
Enticing me all the while
She is everything I am looking for
Everything and maybe a little more
I see her everyday
Wanting to be more that just friends
But still I turn myself away
And once again, I pretend
I pretend that everything is alright
Even though I’m ripping inside
I try my best not to think of her
But she is always on my mind
I can’t just lie to myself anymore
I have to stop this pain
One day I’m going to have to stop
And at least tell her my name
Maybe then I can live
Without my fears and doubts
Finally give her a chance
To at least try and figure me out
