Holding On

by Karin Erlacher   Dec 2, 2004

Tears held in with guilt
Tightly held in fear of crying
Knowing the faces never rebuilt
Closely on the edge of dying
Smells of beer and smoke
Smoke lingering in the air
Knowing hearts have been broken
And fingers run through hair
5 guys
1 car
All lies
No bar
Just a game being played
To drink the limits above
The driver unsober for days
Had lost his only love
Warning calls and sad cries
Fill the night air cold
Police and friends' weeping sighs
Grab feelings and keep a hold
Holding on, never letting go
Keeping their faces alive today
Everyone moves on with the show
But won't let them fade away
