Pain preys on the grieving

by Mild insomnia   Dec 3, 2004

She sits alone, in her room,
A cup of coffee in her cold hands,
And she’s drinking up her own tears,

With nothing that she can do,
She cries out for her lost romance,
And is then consumed by all of her fears.

Pain preys,
On the grieving,
It takes your light away,
And in the morning,
You’ll say that you’re ok,
Tear marks stain your pretty face,
And you’ll just slowly fade.

Everything’s grey and black and white,
Nothing seems to hold any life,

Telling herself it will be all right,
She bleeds away another cruel night.

Pain preys,
On the grieving,
It takes your life away,
And during the mourning,
You’ll play that you’re ok,
Though tears roll down your face,
And you slowly fade.

In the years,
That will pass,
You’ll be here,
‘Til the last.

You’ll make it through each agonising day,
Cos I’ll be here to help you on your way.

Walking round in circles,
You find yourself dizzy,
And the pain kicks in with each step,

Jumping over hurdles,
The world keeps on spinning,
Just focus on what you have left.

Pain preys,
On the grieving,
It takes your love away.
