Christmas without cheer

by Victoria   Dec 3, 2004

The festive time is just around the door
It is coming just as it has done before
Children are eagerly waiting for Santa Claus to come
But he won’t for some
These are the children who sit in the dry heat
With blistering sores on their feet
Their hunger is overwhelming inside
This hunger they will have to abide
No one is there to help them survive one more day
In time they will fade away
These children will not run down the stairs
Or run to the Christmas tree to open there presents with no care
They will be sitting on a dusty floor on Christmas day
There only thought will be food and for this they will pray
Children will be playing with there new toys
On the other side of the world a death will be mourned of another girl or boy
Who has died of famine and disease
If only their pain we could ease
So imagine this when you eat your turkey dinner
There is a child out there becoming thinner and thinner
They are slowly dieing of no fault of their own
Their parents have died before them so they are left to fight all alone
When you see an advert pleading for help don’t look away
As your money may let a child see another Christmas day
