Words In A Box

by Jaime   Dec 4, 2004

A while ago you asked me a question,
About how I could care so much for you.
You told me you were just words in a box,
And a cold, heartless jerk, too.

If you were such a cold, heartless jerk,
You wouldn't worry whether I cared or not.
A jerk wouldn't spend so much time talking to me,
I would have been long forgot.

You tell me your feelings, you tell me your dreams,
We talk for hours, we have so much in common it seems.

I don't need to see your face to know you're a great guy.
I never have to be emabarrassed about anything, never have to be shy.

I don't need to hear your voice to understand what you have to say,
I don't need a hug when I'm upset, your words make things okay.

So how, you ask, could I care so much for you?
It's the things you say that count, not the things you do.

Maybe, technically, you're just words in a box,
And maybe I don't see you everyday.
But friendship isn't seeing, it comes from the heart,
You don't need to be close, you're an awesome friend either way.
