Christmas without you.

by Emily Eaton   Dec 5, 2004

Hurry, hurry come quick with my gift
waiting for you in this midnight drift
Counting each minute,
Watching each train
Searching for your face
I'm going insane.
Baby it's Christmas
i need you near
the spirit is dying, no Christmas cheer.
Mistletoe stands over nothing.
The lights on the tree are dim,
Neighbors ask why so alone?
I say I'm waiting for him.
Finally i hear your train coming,
My lonesome heart skips a beat.
At last in your presence on this Christmas eve,
Oh what a heavenly treat.
Please be here
I've been a good girl
sitting at home
my head in a whirl.
Passengers leave
your no where to be seen
are you hiding behind me, or just playing with me?
But no, your train goes
I'm sick inside
it's Christmas baby
the spirit has died.
Taxi home and in the door
place the keys on this side
and drop to the floor.
I lay still for hours
thinking of you,
perhaps your hiding somewhere
ready to jump out and shout BOO.
There's a tap tap on the door
your here at last,
tripping over my feet
I'm rushing so fast.
I'm sorry Miss he began to say,
there's been an accident involving your fiancee.
A car crash, it can't be
silly old fool
dashing home fast in this midnight cool.
Baby this Christmas will be a hard one to take,
You not here, was no ones's mistake.
So merry Christmas to the one i love,
So far apart earth and above.

That's a rather sad poem for Christmas but it is well expressed.
