A deadly error

Every day at school
laughed at and harassed
constantly wondering
how long he can last

he was always being threatened
and beat into the ground
thats why he used a knife
when nobody was around

nobody ever noticed
and nobody ever cared
that he always cut himself
and lived his whole life scared

they always sent him hate notes
tripped him and laughed when he fell
he never had a friend to help him
get through his personal hell

everyday at school he saw her
and she looked at him with respect
"everyday i see you all alone
you'd like to have friends i expect?"

she told him that she always watches him
and like had turned to love
and that there was someone
he reminded her of

when i see you i always think of
how i was mocked for years
and that all it took was love
to stop all the pain and tears

she said "its time you know i love you always will and always have
and if you're wiling to let me
i want to help you find a better path"

she asked him to eat lunch with her
but he didn't want her to be made fun of too
so even though he'd loved her for years
he knew what he had to do

he told her of his love for her
that he'd loved her since second grade
and that in knowing that she cared
his whole life had been made

he told her of all the nights
he had yearned for just a touch
but that if she talked to him
she'd have to go through so much

she knew all the risks
and also that she didn't care
she could deal with being harassed
as long as he was there

they stayed together for three years
till that night she denied his love
and he went back to living
everything his nightmare was

without her there by his side
he felt weak and alone
so thats why he decided
he'd die when he got home

he pressed the knife to his wrist
started slicing nice and deep
dying from more than a broken heart
he falls to the ground and weeps

his mother comes in and finds him
sees the blood on the floor
runs to call an ambulance
and they rush him out the door

the roads are slick and icy
and the ambulance slips to far
runs through a stop sign
and hits another car

right before he passes away
he says sorry for those he killed
there was one person in the other car
but they didn't survive

it was her in the other car
on her way to admit her mistake
ready to beg for another chance
having realized this love isn't fake

she didn't die on impact
she heard his last few words
"tell my baby that i love her
and to always keep her courage"

tracing a path down her cheek
one tear falls from pain filled eyes
she cries and tries to scream
but all that she says is goodbye
