It's Never Enough

by Mike G   Dec 6, 2004

It’s not enough that I’m broken
Beaten down against the grain
Stripped of all my pride and dignity
Almost driven completely insane
It’s not enough that I can’t breathe
Every time I mention your name
Frustration is taking its toll on me
Leaving me humbled once again
It’s not enough to break my heart
But you had to take my stride too
Needing your heart to want mine
But sympathy is all I get from you
It’s not enough to disgrace my name
Acting as though you didn’t love
Terrorizing the inner walls of my soul
But I guess love just wasn’t enough
It’s not enough to smile at me
When you see me out at the club
Acting as if you don’t even know me
As though our story never was
It’s not enough that I still cry
My mortality is showing through
As the water flows from my eyes
Reality keeps telling me it's true
It’s not enough to just understand
Why you had to do what you did
Nothing seemed to go as planned
And now I’m left with nothing again
It’s not enough to scream your name
My cries of longing affection true
Giving anything to have you back
For there is nothing I wouldn’t do
It’s not enough to sing your praises
With hopes of redemption at love
Seems that no matter what I do
My attempts will just never be enough
