Red rose

by Carrie   Dec 6, 2004

A red rose
Solitary in the window
Poisoned by failure
Loathed by life
Blood leaking
From an unblemished petal
Forming a silent pool
At the base of an animus vase
Staining this unpredictable world
With its poison hate
The rose darkens
Until as black as night
Wilted and insipid; dead now
Poisoned by failure
Loathed by life
A black rose
Deceased in the window
