Searching for Allen: Inside Me

by Jacki   Dec 7, 2004

Music blaring and protest being fought
Men fighting in the Vietnam War
I travel and I write to find
My own exploration to capture time.
I bring along my pen and paper
And jot down what I feel the essence
Of the world and the spirits around
I will ease.
Tis, time will know the answers
And hearts blazed on fire.
Dreading through, torturous challenges,
Buddhism I then turned to.
Seeking enlightenment amongst
War that runs thick with blood.
I seek poetry to ease my mind
Strong lyrics not cheesy meaningless
Words you throw together in
Span of 2 minutes.
I want heart felt visions, my mind
To feel as though I was their and could
Hear the guns blazing in my ear.
I want poetry of epic proportions
I want to hear you chanting the
"Three Refuges" in Sanskrit,
With a voice like Frank Sinatra.
Scathing away at a microphone
A reading for the Washington Post.
Don’t you feel the beauty when
Milarepa singing to the wind with
His right hand at his ear to listen to the sound, shabd.
With a wave of drugs to the students
LSD opened minds awareness to the
Possibility of alternative modes of consciousness.
Leaving their imaginations open to understand
Some of the imagery, such as the wheels of life.
To this I was founded upon
To this was the end.
For my journey has ended and travels
Have seized.
I finally have found the enlightenment in me.
Times change and I will forever live on.

Wow....this poem took me back to my college days [ like 7 months ago ] where in creative writing we got to read a very famous Scottish poet called Brain McCabe. His poem "Noah" is written just like your one...and i loved them both...such perfect blitz flow..so easily a song...such powerful thoughts.

    Happy trails sister, nice.
