Remembrance

She remembers the days that he scorned and laughed
When he came and he showed the extent of his wrath

She remembers the times that he made stupid jokes
And the time he came home - he was high on coke

She remembers her sister alone and afraid
While he was out drinking and out getting laid

She remembers her grades slipping lower and lower
No time to work while she was pushing the mower

She remembers her mother, and how she ran
And the guy picked her up in that horrid white van

She remembers her brother, who now is in jail
The cries and the pleading, all to no avail

She remembers..the policeman, and then the arrest
They dragged him out in only his pants and his vest

She remembers the trial, when he stood in the dock
His look seemed to threaten, his smile seemed to mock

She remembered his face when the verdict was guilty
And visiting day, when his quarters were filthy

She remembers the man turning up at her door
And thinking "Please, I don't want any more"

She remembers the look on that policeman's face
He'd escaped from jail, but then in haste
He'd forgotten the fence - electrified
He'd jumped on top of it, now he was fried

She remembers the look on his face and the moustache
And thinking to herself "That's poetic justice"
