Look At This World

by Toni   Dec 8, 2004

What's happening to this lonely world
That's now so full of sorrow?
So many people are feeling pain
Is there no happiness left to borrow?

Little children in countries at war
Clinging to their lives
More suicide bombers than ever before
Rebels clutching knives

Too many children are sexually abused
Bullied and torn apart
Hiding their secret because they're confused
With a burnt out, bleeding heart

So many families, broken and split
The children left in despair
Domestic abuse, too many mothers are hit
Why is there such lack of care?

Then there's the children who sleep it rough
Outside alone in the cold
Some orphans, others have no where to go
Nobody warm to hold

So much pressure on exams and school
Results and straight A stars
The path already set for them
School, a job, a car

Look at us, the young people of today
Look at this world's effect
Look at how we suffer and cry
We're societies own rejects

Look at how ill we've all become
Our minds can't take this strain
Look at what the "adults" have done:
Filled our life with pain

But it's OK because you're all the "present"
We're the future of today
When we grow up, we'll learn from your mistakes
And change your foolish ways

This world has really failed us all
We're left out in the cold
But one day we'll muster up all our courage
And our true strength we shall unfold

Any comments would mean so much x
