I Won't Conform

I don't need to show off my legs with a short mini skirt,
And I'd rather not wear 10 dollars worth of makeup everyday.
I'd prefer a sweater, instead of a revealing shirt,
And if my hair is one strand out of place, I'm sure I'll be okay.

I'll wear any colour, except for pink,
I'll date guys my age, not an older man.
And if I really cared what you think,
Would Backstreet Boys still be my favourite band?

I refuse to talk in slang just to make myself look "cool",
I have a pocket for money, you have an armpit purse.
You freak out at horror movies, but I think they rule,
You don't really understand that "Bad Hair Days" aren't so much of a curse.

You always seem to be down at the mall,
There has got to be something better to do.
Like playing sports, or spinning until we get sick and fall,
I like all the clothes I have, you always want something new.

BUT

If that's who you are, and that's who you choose to be,
As long as you are happy that way,
Why should it matter to me?
Telling you you're wrong, is not something I have the right to say.

Putting each other down, making people feel like they don't belong,
It just something we all do, but merely a game.
If we all conformed, then nobody would be wrong,
But life would just be boring if all of us were the same.
