Familiar Places

by FTS Miles   Dec 9, 2004

I\'ll be looking for you
in all the old familiar places,
though ruined some may be.

No more majesty of Egypt
sonambulistic in mystery.

No more innocence of Minoa
aloof behind absent wards.

No more grandeur of Rome
aswirl in color and arrogance.

No more freedom of Gaul
truly savage in the wilds.

No more rebirthing of Italia
obsessed with recovered myth.

No more dawning of Empire
haughty in endless suns.

Our worlds are gone to ruin in the
silences between heartbeats.

But craving bests mourning,
so I'll still be looking for you
in all the old familiar places.

I don't know how on earth I missed those, Bhaskaryya! I'm glad you pointed them out. :)

And thank you both for your compliments (Elizabeth and Bhaskaryya)!
