Confusion

Why am I caught in confusion?
my heart and my mind are in a war,
the bloodiest battle I've ever seen,
the hurt, the screams, the gore

My mind tells me to turn away,
my heart tells me to grab his hand,
I cannot choose, but cannot reject,
I can't do it, but then I can

I turn one way and there are smiles,
I turn the other and there are tears,
I feel the warmth from the love,
I feel the cold from the fear

My emotions are leading me toward him,
my wisdom is leading me away,
I am ready to tell so many things,
but then I have nothing to say

I'm caught in the middle of my war,
looking at one side then the other,
I am ready to run away,
I feel so lost and so smothered

If I choose one way I have them,
If I choose the other I have you,
I don't know what to believe,
I don't know what is true

God I pray to you right now,
please help my feet go the right way,
please help me look toward you,
please get me through today.
