I Believed You [For Danielle]

by .x.PorteR.x.   Dec 10, 2004

I once listened to you.
I believed what you told me,
Every word you said played itself
Over and over
And over again
In my naive mind.

I believed you
When you said you loved me,
When you told me I was beautiful,
And when you promised
Never to leave me.

I believed you.

And you crushed me.
You told me it was all a lie,
And we parted.
You played me for all it was worth.
You stole my heart again
And smashed it into one million tiny pieces,
Like glass.

I bent down, picking up those tiny shards
And digging them into my fragile skin.
That was the pain you caused
By telling me I was beautiful,
By telling me that you’d never leave,
By telling me
That you loved me.

And I believed you.

--For my friend Danielle who went through this... Love ya babe--
