The Golden Rule

by Tanya, Mom of one.   Dec 11, 2004

My little girl is two years old,
And soon will be in school.
I'm amazed at how times have changed,
How we used to live by "The Golden Rule."

Prayer was taken out of school,
Yet guns and drugs were let in,
Safety is not a promised thing,
When you send your child within.

How can you feel safe about,
Letting her on that bus?
Will the driver fly out in rage?
Will my child be hit? Or cursed?

If and when she safely arrives,
Will some tormented child be waiting,
With a loaded gun or pistol,
Hitting anything in which it is aiming?

"Leave out prayer!" they still insist,
Let the children choose for them selves....
I can't help but to be afraid...
I'm sending her off to a mere hell.

I hope when she gets old enough to go,
I will find some kind of relief....
That the school won't be torn apart,
Because of some one else's beliefs.

All those parents that lost their children,
Due to some incident in school,
My prayers are with them every day,
That they will someday reinforce..."The Golden Rule."
