Echo'd Death

by Sarah   Dec 12, 2004

Why did you fall, my child?

Because there was no one there to catch me.

Why do you cry, my child?

Because there is no one here to hold me.

Why do you die, my child?

Because when I scream into the darkness, I only hear my echo screaming back at me.

A departure from the whimsical observations I've come to expect from your other poems. But this is an excellent poem nonetheless. Isolated, unexpected, and cloying.
