She remembers the fights, The horror she felt, She remembered the times, She was hit with the belt. She remembers the screaming, The cries of rage, She remembered the times, She misbehaved. She remembers the pain, The welches on her legs, She remembered the pleading, As she sat there and begged. She remembers the day, That she had enough, She remembered the time, She began to get rough. She remembers how it ended, Her life almost gone, She remembered his strength, No way she would have won. She remembers not giving up, Not letting him win the war, She remembered she'd said, She wouldn't take anymore. She remembers walking out, Leaving him at last, She remembered all the bad times, She had in her past. She remembers no more, For he took her life that day, We remember her, In every single way... The pain she no longer suffers, The tears she no longer cries, But we still ask ourselves, Oh god why? She's gone yet not forgotten, In a much happier place, With flowers & sunshine, She's surrounded by grace.
