Thru My Daughters Eyes

by Tanya, Mom of one.   Dec 13, 2004

Christmas has always been,
A favorite time of year.
Opening all of your presents,
And being close to those so dear.

Over the years Christmas to me,
Became one big rush,
Not enough hours in the day,
For shopping or wrapping and such.

I got so sick of the holidays,
I dreaded seeing them get near,
I hated fighting the traffic,
I hated the "Christmas Cheer".

I wanted to find at least one station,
On my radio,
That wasn't playing Christmas music,
Or mentioned the word mistletoe!

The aggravation of it all,
Made me cold inside.....
Until my daughter saw our Christmas tree,
For the very first time.

I saw the familiar twinkle in her eyes,
Then I saw her smile grow wide,
The look of amazement at our tree,
And then felt a warmth inside.

I had dreaded Christmas for so long,
It seemed like I'd forgot,
The excitement of being little,
And getting to put the Angel on top.

The spirit of Christmas is back again,
I'm seeing it all over thru her eyes.
How you can barely wait till Christmas morning,
Because under the tree, is a BIG surprise!

So have a Merry Christmas y'all!
And sleep well Christmas Eve.
Christmas thru a child's eyes,
Is all you need to see, to believe!

***Merry Christmas Everyone!***
