I could never watch you leave

Because my heart wouldn't let me

It wouldn't let me, let you go

And even though our fire was gone,

It burned to see you leave your past

With me included in the ash...

I prayed to God you would remember me

That I could be the sweetest of your memories

I asked Him to mend my broken heart

'Cus it was ripped apart

That day I watched you leave me

I knew you'd do it from the start

I had lived a dream with you-it seemed so true

Yet so unreal...

Love was no longer strong enough

For how my heart really feels

And just when I found a word to describe

Exactly how I was feeling inside

I awoke from my dream, wiped the sleep from my eyes

And finally got a chance to realize...

Love had only let me borrow you,

You were never really mine
