Broken Girl

I’m tired of my jokes
They are but a short release of my pain
The emptiness inside can not be cover
The laugher will always settle down
And I will always be left with the coldness inside

I have tried to cope with this pain
I have tried to rid myself of the games I play
Always pretending to be sane
Always pretending that everything is okay
I have pretended so much even I see what you see

I see a happy girl who knows what’s best
I see a girl that has no problems
I see a girl that enjoys life
I see a girl not hiding from her secrets
But what I do see surely isn’t me

When I break the mirror staring at me
I hate what’s there
A girl frightened to be herself
A girl who thinks about anyone but herself
I see a girl who is scared and alone
I see a girl who finally lost herself

Past scars visible so all can see
Tears that have settled on her cheeks
Hair tortured and beat
A soul that has withered into nothing
A heart barely making a beat
And eyes so empty and dead

No angels at her side
No wings to shield her from pain
Not one hand to guild her
No friends for encouragement
Only here to help herself

But all of this is fine
Everyone will always see the mirrored me
Even heaven above will only see my reflection
I’ll say another joke to make you believe
That this broken girl never bleeds
