Lost Love

by Michael D Nalley   Dec 15, 2004

I did not know what I had until I lost it
I did not miss what I had until I tossed it
Was I dragged away by wild horses?
Or was I dragged away by evil forces?

I cut myself, and I’m still bleeding
I am wounded. but I’m still pleading
I know I’m free from the paradise I lost
But freedom, it never comes without a cost

I once thought that freedom was so cool
The freedom sought by an ignorant fool
Free will gives the power to choose
Power to win power to lose

Did I lose my sweetheart, did I lose my mind
While seeking the freedom that I could not find
The freedom I found is not kind
Like the freedom sought by the blind

Freedom is foolish, if it is freedom from love
Nothing on this earth compares to the One above
What’s lost has been found, what’s to come has already been
I know now the only true freedom, is freedom from sin
